The CB18 1.8T turbo uses a silicone or composite boost hose connecting the intercooler outlet to the throttle body inlet. The OEM worm-drive or spring clamp at this connection applies uneven radial pressure; under repeated thermal cycling, boost pressure pulsation from the turbo, and cold-start temperature extremes common in NZ, the hose develops a longitudinal split or pulls away from the clamp bead. Boost pressure loss causes immediate and dramatic power reduction, may trigger an overrun condition before the driver lifts off, and sets MAF or boost pressure related fault codes.
